Interested in volunteering with SAS?

Below are some current roles we are looking to fill:

  • The Events Coordinator would communicate with volunteers and partners to create a smooth tabling process. This position would ensure volunteers have the materials and information that they need for events. The coordinator would book Sonoran Audubon Society for events and confirm that there are the appropriate amount of volunteers needed for the event.Current annual events include: Tres Rios Nature Festival, All Vultures Eve, Nature Fest PHX, and any events that our partners request us for.
  • An Engagement Volunteer would help out at tabling events to inform the public all about birds. Topics can include: native birds, plants for birds, window-strike prevention, SAS bird-walks. Education Volunteers can also choose to participate in presentations or birding classes if desired.
  • A Bird Walk Leader Volunteer would offer to guide a SAS bird walk at least once per year and document birds observed during these walks onto a paper or eBird. Typical bird walks last for ~1-2 hours. Volunteers in this position point out birds and gauge the needs of the group. You do not need to be an expert birder to be a Bird Walk Leader Volunteer.
