Bubbling Ponds and Paige springs Fish Hatchery with Bob McCormick.
Page Springs Fish Hatchery and Bubbling Ponds is operated by The Arizona Game and Fish
Department and is open to the public. Several open ponds are lined with old Cottonwood and
Sycamore trees which support a rich diversity of riparian bird species. Both of these sites are
parts of the Lower Oak Creek Important Bird Area (IBA). E-bird lists 268 species that have
been observed. Check the website for recent sightings. https://ebird.org/hotspot/L266621

We will start on Black-hawk trail at Bubbling Ponds which has 2 wildlife viewing platforms, a
large ramada, and is 1.8 miles complete with pleasant sitting areas throughout. We will also
make a hike to the river to see what is here. We will then make the short drive south to Paige
Springs Fish Hatchery for lunch and another hike.

Bubbling Ponds is located approximately 10 miles south of Sedona and 10 miles north of
Cottonwood on Page Springs Road. The best access is from Interstate 17. Take the McGuirville
exit (exit 293), turn west for approximately 10 miles to Cornville, AZ.; turn north on Page
Springs Road for 5.5 miles to hatchery entrance.
