Under the Trump administration, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act has been reduced in power. Bird mortality defined as “incidental take” has been lessened in terms of punishment — birds have to be purposely killed now to be punishable. Bird populations are already decreasing with climate change, and do not need more stress added to their plight. The Biden administration has halted the decisions made by the Trump administration regarding the Migratory Birds Treaty Act.
