Hassayampa River Preserve with Kathe Anderson

September 21 @ 7:00 am - 9:30 am

Please find below the upcoming SAS September Birding Trip to the Hassayampa River Preserve, with Guide Kathe Anderson: Date: September 21st.

Because space is limited, you are requested to contact Kathe IMMEDIATELY to RESERVE YOUR SPACE BY SEPTEMBER 7TH—that is two weeks prior to the trip.

NOTE: Two weeks prior to the date of each trip, Kathe opens all her trips to folks from other Audubon Chapters. She also keeps a Waiting List for any drop outs for the trip if it is full when you call her or for future trips.

The Trip: Saturday, Sept 21: Hassayampa River Preserve.

Since it’s likely to be warm, we’ll leave the Phoenix area about 6:30am to arrive at the Preserve about 7:15am, shortly after it opens. We’ll enjoy the trails at the Preserve until about 9:15am,

and wrap up with snacks at the picnic area. The Preserve bird list is about 280 species, and in September, in addition to the regular residents, we could see both lingering summer visitors

(flycatchers and vireos) plus some early returning winter migrants such Orange-crowned Warblers and House Wrens. Return to the Phoenix area about 10:30am.

Expenses include a $5 entry fee per person at the Preserve and a gas donation. Limited to 7 participants. Please register with Kathe Anderson at [email protected] . Registration will be open to Sonoran Audubon members exclusively until Sept 7. Difficulty 1-2. Meeting place and carpooling logistics will be determined a few days before the trip.
