SUMMARY:Base and Meridian Wildlife Area Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Sonoran Audubon Society will be collaborating with the City of Avondale and ASU at the Base and Meridian Wildlife Area Cleanup. This event will take place on April 17th from 7am-8am\, and we will arrive at 6:15am to set up and 8:45am to take everything down. \nWe will be distributing native plants and seeds to these cleanup volunteers. The plants will be given out on a first-come first-serve basis\, with people who show up earlier more likely to receive the plant species of their choice or a plant at all. Each plant will come with a care sheet and printouts from Sonoran Audubon Society to learn more about the Plants for Birds Initiative. To set up and take down the tabling with ample time\, we will arrive ~45 minutes before and after the event. \nIf you’re interested in helping with these plants or have any further questions\, please contact kaylee.delcid@gmail.com with the subject line “April 17th Tabling.” Please keep in mind that the weather may be beginning to heat up and to dress appropriately to keep cool.

SUMMARY:Planting Native Plants for Base and Meridian Wildlife Area Volunteers
DESCRIPTION:Volunteers at the Base and Meridian Wildlife Area helped protect critical bird habitat.  As a part of the Plants for Birds Initiative\, Sonoran Audubon Society is donating native plants to cleanup volunteers. \nOn April 18th from 8am-12pm\, we will be helping plant a portion of these donated plants in the ground at the volunteers’ yards. This is to ensure that the plants get planted and that they have a higher probability of surviving the Arizona heat. \nIf you’re interested in helping with these plants or have any further questions\, please contact kaylee.delcid@gmail.com with the subject line “April 18th Planting.” There will be physicals labor involved\, such as digging holes in the ground with a shovel and applying additional soil for the plants. Jim Consolloy will be supervising.
