Jefferson St\, Peoria\, AZ 85345 \nOpen to all Sonoran Audubon Society Friends and Family Members\nand Friends of Friends!\nGuests at this Special Members’ Meeting are SAS’ 2022\, 2023 and\n2024 Western Yellow Billed Cuckoo Survey Interns! You’ll hear \nabout their adventures learning about and counting these wonderful\nbirds on the Upper Agua Fria River\, at Tres Rios in PHX and at other\nsites in our part of Arizona.\nOur itrepid young interns count these birds on the hottest days of the\nyear—from mid-June through August— when Cuckoos arrive in AZ to\nbuild their nests and raise young. Bob McCormick\, former SAS\nBoard President and SAS Important Bird Area Coordinator and Tim\nFlood\, long time SAS member and leader of the Upper Agua Fria\nRiver Annual Wet Dry Mapping surveys\, are the senior guides and\nleaders for SAS’ interns.\nSAS’ outreach to conservation science majors and recent college\ngraduates through these internships is resulting in their participation\nwith SAS and other AZ Audubon chapters. SAS always appreciates\ninterns’ and others’ input to make this effort better and more far-\nreaching. The bird list is being prepared and will be on E\nBird. “McBob” was our bird walk guide along the Upper Agua Fria\nRiver. And\, around the Ranch itself there are always “good birds”.\nSAS will return to Horseshoe Ranch for the Spring Picnic and Bird\nWalks—we are aiming for MIGRATION!!
