The Festival is a couple of fun days with lots of people (over 3000 per day) especially families with kids. Volunteering is a way to get to know this\nyearly Festival. Note: Sonoran Audubon’s “McBob” was a founding Festival Plan member on behalf of your Chapter! \nBob McCormick’s direct e mail contact: mcbobaz@aol.com \nTres Rios Nature Festival: Sonoran Audubon booth \nThe Sonoran Audubon Society is one of the founding sponsors of the Tres Rios Nature festival. At our booth we lead short bird hikes and hand out info on our organization and topics important to birds. This is our biggest event of the year and also our biggest exposure as around 3\,000 people attend the festival each day. \nVolunteers are needed for both positions. Shifts are 9:30-1:00 and 12:30 – 3pm. CONTACT: Bob McCormick at mcbobaz@aol.com \nBooth help – Interact with festival goers. Help children with the festival scavenger hunt by playing the bird match game. Talk about Sonoran Audubon\, plants for birds\, handouts\, etc. Two folks per shift is fine. Help with booth set-up and teardown is also requested. \nField trip leaders – lead short hikes around the B&M wildlife area and point out any birds seen. Most want to go to Barn Owl area. About a mile hike taking around an hour. It is preferable to have 3-4 folks per shift to give guides a break between walks. \nWe also host an early morning bird hike for the experienced birder that runs from7:30 – 9:30am. Anyone can attend but the early tours are not recommended for children under 12 unless they are avid birders. \nhttps://www.avondaleaz.gov/government/departments/parks-recreation/events/tres-rios-nature-festival \nDATES: Saturday\, February 25 & Sunday\, February 26\, 2023 \nTIMES: 10AM – 3PM (BOTH DAYS)\nLOCATION: Tres Rios Base & Meridian Wildlife Area\nADDRESS: 7602 Jimmie Johnson Dr. Avondale\, AZ\, 85323 \n
