SUMMARY:Sunset Walk at Gilbert Riparian Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Desert Rivers Audubon has extended an invitation to SAS members for a special family bird walk taking place at sunset. This location is iconic for its wide breadth of urban bird diversity due to the great habitat that the recharge ponds provide for them. \nLocation: Gilbert Riparian Preserve\, address: 2757 E. Guadalupe Rd\, Gilbert\, AZ 85234. Click here for a Google Maps pin to the location. \nCourtesy of Desert Rivers Audubon \nNov 11\, 2025 \nSunset Walk through the Riparian Preserve\nPrior to DRA’s Monthly Speakers Meeting on November 11\,\nplease join an early evening bird walk at Gilbert Riparian\nPreserve from 4:00-5:45 p.m. https://desertriversaudubon.org/event/november-11-sunset-bird-walk-gilbert-riparian-\npreserve/–go here to register for this event (required). \nLet go of the day’s stress as we observe the birds’ last feeding of\nthe day! Sometimes there is frenzied activity before sunset to\nfind a safe roosting place from owls and other predators. If you\nare not an early morning person\, this is a good event for you!\nGilbert Riparian Preserve is one of the best places in the Phoenix\nmetro area for birding. Many waterfowl arrive from the north to\nstay for the winter. The native trees and shrubs that line the flat \nwide paths provide food and protection for many of our year-\nround species and migrants. We might be treated with an \nawesome sunset reflecting on the water!\nBring binoculars (if you have them) and a phone or flashlight as\nthe paths may get dark before we return to the library parking\nlot. Optional: a sandwich or snack.
