SUMMARY:Sonoran Audubon Special Members’ Meeting
DESCRIPTION:YOU ARE INVITED! \nSonoran Audubon Special Members’ Meeting \nMonday\, November 3\, 2025 \n5:45 PM to 7:30 PM \nHummingbird Room \nFoothills Library \n19055 N 57th Ave\, Glendale\, AZ 85308 \nOpen to all Sonoran Audubon Society Friends and Family Members and Friends of Friends! RSVP REQUIRED (see below) \nGuests at this Special Members’ Meeting are SAS’ 2024 and 2025 Western Yellow Billed Cuckoo Survey Interns and our SAS Interns at Hassayampa and SAS. You’ll hear about their adventures learning about and counting these wonderful Cuckoos on the Upper Agua Fria River\, at Tres Rios in PHX and at other sites in our part of Arizona. You’ll hear about the bird banding station at Hassayampa and meet our SAS off and on intern who helps SAS with managing the website and other tasks. \nOur intrepid interns count Cuckoos on the hottest days of the year—from mid-June through August— when the birds arrive in AZ to build their nests and raise young. Bob McCormick\, former SAS Board President and SAS Important Bird Area Coordinator and Tim Flood\, long time SAS member and leader of the Upper Agua Fria River Annual Wet Dry Mapping surveys\, are the senior guides and leaders for SAS’ interns. \nSAS’ outreach to conservation science majors and recent college graduates through these internships is resulting in their participation with SAS and other AZ Audubon chapters. SAS always appreciates interns’ and others’ input to make this effort better and more far-reaching. We hope you’ll join us! —Sincerely\, the SAS Board. \nWHERE: 19055 N 57th Ave\, Glendale\, AZ 85308 \nBasic instructions: Travel to the 101 West of the 17 to the 51st Ave Exit. To avoid construction & traffic take Thunderbird or Union Hills as alternatives from west or east. At the 51st Ave exit off the 101 Freeway\, turn south to wind your way on small streets to 57th Ave. Coming from the south on Thunderbird or Union Hills: go north on 57th Ave; turn right for the library on 57th Ave. just north of Union Hills. \nLibrary Phone Number: +1 623-930-3600 \nRSVP is required. e mail klaf40@gmail.com by end of the day Saturday\, November 1st\, 2025. This sign up is especially important so that we have a people count for a correctly-sized room at the Library. Thanks! \nNOTE: The event is SAS’ only members’ INDOOR meeting in person in 2025. Please refer to the SAS’ website calendar (at https://sonoranaudubon.org/calendar/ )for other events\, bird walks and volunteer opportunities.
