Please join Super Volunteer and Founding Member of the SAS’ Speakers’ Bureau Joe Ford on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 for his presentation called“Cryptic Birds of the Night”.   We’ll be meeting at 6:30 PM for conversation and at 7:00 PM for the program at the West Valley Unitarian Universalist Church, corner of 59th Avenue and Cholla, in Glendale.

Joe Ford is a native of the Lake-of-the-Ozarks country in central Missouri. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from Missouri State University and a Masters Degree in Natural Science from the University of Oklahoma. He has been an educator at all levels.

After 42 years in the teaching field he retired to Sun City, Arizona. He is currently active in so many things we can barely get him to meetings!

He has offered programs on bird identification, threats to birds of concern, plant families, and Arizona geology at three of the county parks, Estrella Mountain, Cave Creek and White Tank Mountain Park. Joe also helps with the Important Bird Area’s Tres Rios B & M survey and participates on Christmas bird counts.  If that were not enough, he does the annual Maricopa County Aquatic Bird Survey with AZ Game & Fish.

Besides Sonoran Audubon Society, Joe is a member of Arizona Field Ornithologists.  Enjoy the photos below of the Common Potoo and a Tawny Frogmouth.
