SAS Field Trip – Pinal Mountains

August 7, 2017 @ 4:00 am – 3:30 pm
Pinal Mountains
Dr. David Pearson

Sunrise is at 5:20am that day, so we need to leave the Tempe Library, Southern and Rural, parking lot (s.e. corner under the solar panels) at 4 am (EXACTLY).  We will bird up the mountain through four distinct habitats (mesquite-cottonwood, chaparral, ponderosa-oak, Douglas fir-aspen), and we should find a mixture of summer residents and early fall passage migrants.  A list of between 85 and 95 species is possible.  We will be back at the Tempe Library about 3:30 pm. Bring water and bag lunch for a picnic in  the spruces and firs at 7,800 feet elevation.  There is a limit of three vehicles and 11 participants plus the leader. A checklist of bird species for the area will be provided a week before the trip.

RSVP TO Darnell Kirksey by July 24th.
