The ponds are part of the Flood Control District of Maricopa County and are located due west of the Arizona Cardinals- Phoenix Stadium on Loop 101. Take the Camelback Rd. exit off of Loop 101 and head west on Camelback Rd to the third traffic light.

We will meet at the Dust Devil park in front of the rest rooms, SE Corner
of 107th Avenue and Camelback Rd.  We will car pool the short distance
north on 107th to the bridge and turn east to the end of the dirt road
at the canal.  Many birders, including  the leader, witnessed the
long-tailed duck formerly known as the Old Squaw.

Research question:  why don’t the dabblihg ducks save their air and
energy in the water and feed in an adjacent dry or muddy pond?
