SAS Community Education Program: Planting for Birds

January 10, 2018 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
West Valley Unitarian Universalist Church
5904 West Cholla Street
Glendale, AZ 85304

The first chapter meeting of the new year is on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the West Valley UU Church; the program will start at 7 PM.  Come early for coffee and snacks and lots of conversation at 6:30 PM.  Parking is free and plentiful.  We are calling this a “community education program” event and we hope that our expert panel’s presence will help attract the general public.

The panel of experts on “Bird-Friendly Plants” includes: Cathy Wise (Audubon Arizona) and Joanne Toms (City of Glendale) who will be the featured guests along with Jim Consolloy and Tom Lazzelle from the Board.  Cathy Wise has had a long career in public and private sector environmental science education and Joanne is a fervent supporter of bird-friendly places—like the Glendale Library and organizations like SAS which supports all that she does at the library.  Also on the program, Cynthia Donald will present “Madacascar in Photos.”  Cynthia is a long time birder, world traveler and educator who is known around town, especially in Sun City.

Besides the presentations, the chapter will have for sale, or will have discount coupons for, native plants that you can use in your yards to attract birds.  We look forward to seeing you next Wednesday.  Please invite your friends and bring your whole family.  For community bulletin boards, feel free to print out this SAS Program Flyer.
