According to leader Daniela Yellan there were 12 participants including members of Sonoran Audubon, Maricopa Audubon, and Birders Anonymous on the SAS sponsored trip. They were privileged to be allowed to visit the site and were accompanied by Wes Canfield an employee of the Tres Rios Wastewater Treatment Plant which is on 91st Ave., Phoenix.

"It was a great trip," said Daniela with 60 species identified as follows:

American White Pelican, Double-crested Cormorant, Neotropic Cormorant, Cattle Egret, Snowy Egret, Great Egret, Great Blue Heron, White-faced Ibis, Mallard, Green-winged Teal, Blue-winged Teal, American Wigeon,Northern Pintail, Northern Shoveler, Cinnamon Teal, Ring-necked Duck, American Coot, Common Moorhen, Black Phoebe, Least Sandpiper.

Turkey Vulture, Northern Harrier, Cooper's Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk, Harlan's Red-tailed Hawk, Ferruginous Hawk, Osprey, American Kestrel, Gambel's Quail, Mourning Dove, Anna's Hummingbird, Burrowing Owl, Belted Kingfisher, Gila Woodpecker, Ladder-backed Woodpecker, Gilded Flicker, Lewis' Woodpecker, Spotted Sandpiper, Marsh Wren, Rock Dove.

Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Loggerhead Shrike, European Starling, TennesseeWarbler, Orange-crowned Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Abert's Towhee, Song Sparrow, Lincoln's Sparrow, White-crowned Sparrow, Yellow-headed Blackbird, Brewer's Blackbird, Red-winged Blackbird, Bronzed Cowbird, Great-tailed Grackle, House Sparrow, House Finch, Killdeer, Verdin, Pied-billed Grebe.
