George Wall , Betty Baugus, Pat Kifer, Vera Markham and A.D. Stromme braved the morning heat to do some birding at Thunderbird Park and nearby ponds. Seen were Mallard, Double-crested Cormorant, Great Blue Heron, Black-crowned Night Heron, Green Heron, Gambel's Quail, Mourning Dove, White-winged Dove, flock of Inca Dove, Rock Dove, numerous Cactus Wren, Northern Cardinal, Costa’s Hummingbird, Ash-throated Flycatcher (close look), Verdin, Northern Mockingbird, Great-tailed Grackle, Brown-headed Cowbird, House Finch and of course the House Sparrow. Not bad for a quick birding trip; we got back to the parking lot at 8:30am.
