On a warm sunny day the three of us left Sun City and drove to the Pinal pecan grove to see what we could find. We were rewarded by a single male Bullocks Oriole in all his splendor, a Burring Owl peeking over his burrow and a field full of White-faced Ibis. The pecan trees are just getting their new leaves and the whole grove was lush with growth from the winter rains.

Sweetwater wastewater treatment plant was excellent as always. The highlight was the Least Grebe on the keyhole pond. We all got a good look at him in full breeding plumage.

After lunch we headed back to the Red Rock Road. exit where a birder we met told us there were Crested Caracara by the stockyards. No luck with the Caracara, but we did spot a Lark Sparrow, Eurasian Collared Doves and some beautiful wildflowers.

Birders were Jo Waldron from Washington State, Vera Markham and Donna Smith, Leader.
