Sweetwater - Tucson

Ten birders from Birders' Anonymous and the Sonoran Audubon Society (Dan Bohlmann, Dick Fogle, Ian Jeffrey, Carol Maroney, Jane McNeill, Lee & Phyllis Rosander, Donna Smith and leader George Wall) joined for an all day birding trip.

On the way the group stopped at the Pinal Air Park Pecan Grove to do some birding.

Seen there were Northern Harrier, Red-tailed Hawk, American Kestrel, Mourning Dove, Gila Woodpecker, Ladder-backed Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, Common Raven, Loggerhead Shrike, Curvebilled Thrasher, Verdin, Orange-crowned Warbler, Dark-eyed Junco, Abert's Towhee, Northern Cardinal, Red-winged Blackbird, Western Meadowlark, and Great-tailed Grackle.

The group arrived at the Sweetwater area at 10:30am and birded the beautiful paths around well kept ponds.

Seen here Ruddy Duck, American Wigeon, Green-winged Teal, Mallard, Northern Pintail, Blue-winged Teal, Cinnamon Teal, Northern Shoveler, Ring-necked Duck, Cattle Egret, Green Heron, Northern Harrier, Harris's Hawk, Common Moorhen, American Coot, Mourning Dove, Gila Woodpecker, Say's Phoebe, Black Phoebe, Common Raven, Marsh Wren, Verdin, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, House Sparrow, House Finch, Yellow-rumped Warbler, White-crowned Sparrow, Abert's Towhee, Yellow-headed Blackbird and Great-tailed Grackle.

All in all, 41 different species were seen. After having lunch in a nice shaded spot, the group headed out arrivingback home at approximately 3pm. A great trip.
