Members of Sonoran Audubon and Birder's Anonymous went looking for the elusive Le Conte's Thrasher at Salome Rd., Buckeye, on Saturday, February 8, with no luck. However, there were many, many Bendire Thrashers. Here is the rest of the birding list: Verdin, Loggerhead Shrike, Say's Phoebe, Black Phoebe, Sage Sparrow, Black-throated Sparrow, White-crowned Sparrow, possible Vesper Sparrow, Savannah Sparrow, Song Sparrow, Bewick's Wren, Marsh Wren, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Black-tailed Gnatcatcher, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Orange-crowned Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Gila Woodpecker, Ladder-backed Woodpecker, Western Meadowlark, American Kestrel, Northern Harrier, Turkey Vulture (they are back!), Cedar Waxwing, plus unknown warbler, unknown hawk and lots of little bb's.

We also went to Arlington Nature Preserve. On the way back we saw Vermillion Flycatcher and a field of Long-billed Curlews with a few Willets for companions.

Participants were: Carolyn Modeen, leader, Chuck and Loretta Richards, Jerry and Kathy Hobbs, Donna Smith, Vera Markham, and Marjorie Eckman (who came all the way from Scottsdale).
