It was a beautiful cool morning when 12 of us (Diana Barnum, Jeff and Alice Deutsch, Frank Insana – Leader, Vera Markham, Betty Roberts, Donna Smith, Sam Stearman, George Wall, A.G. Hilbert and his friend Vince both visiting from California and Tennessee respectively) walked the roads and trails of Rio Salado. We didn’t see a great amount of birds, but all agreed it was a fine morning walk.

The 26 species seen were Eared Grebe, Double-crested and Neotropic Cormorants, Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, Snowy Egret, Green Heron, Mallard, Osprey, Red-tailed Hawk, American Kestrel, Common Moorhen, American Coot, Killdeer, Rock Pigeon, Mourning Dove, Anna’s Hummingbird, Black Phoebe, Northern Mockingbird, Verdin, House Finch, Abert’s Towhee, House Sparrow, Red-winged Blackbird, Great-tailed Grackle and Brown-headed Cowbird.
