We had a very lovely day with moderate temperatures. The sycamores are changing colors but there were plenty of leaves to hide the birds. The highlight was a relatively close sighting of a Common Black Hawk. On the trip, Mentor, Ohio birders Joe and Carol Petsche joined us.

We visited the Page Springs Fish Hatchery where Andrea Nesbitt was able to have the Arizona Game and Fish personnel give her some trout to feed to her rehabilitating Bald Eagle at the Arizona Game and Fish Wild Life Center. Our total species count was 26. They are: Pied-billed Grebe, Great Blue Heron, Turkey Vulture, American Wigeon, Mallard, Common Black Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk, American Kestrel, Killdeer, Morning Dove, Belted Kingfisher, Gila Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, Black Phoebe, Say’s Phoebe, Cassin’s Vireo, Common Raven, Brown Creeper, Rock Wren, Starling, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Abert’s Towhee, White-crowned Sparrow, Lesser Goldfinch, House Finch, House Sparrow.

Participants were: Carole Anne Kinney, Andrea Nesbitt, Joe and Carol Petsche, Barbara Bean, Chuck Kangas, and Chuck and Loretta Richards.
