It was a brutally hot day for this field trip at Page Springs Fish Hatchery near Cornville led by John Delventhal. Despite the heat five eager birders joined the leader for exploration of Arizona Game & Fish Department's hatchery and the Bubbling Ponds path in the riparian area near Oak Creek.

A Common Black-Hawk, which was on the group's "wish list", appeared right away and was seen several times. A Lazuli Bunting and a Lesser Goldfinch nest with young were also highlights of the bird list.

Other birds seen and heard: Great Blue Heron, Mallard, American Kestrel, Gambel's Quail, Mourning Dove, Great Horned Owl, Gila Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, Red-naped Sapsucker, Black Phoebe, Say's Phoebe, Common Raven, Verdin, Bewick's Wren, CedarWaxwing, European Starling, Abert's Towhee, White-crowned Sparrow, Lincoln's Sparrow, Red-winged Blackbird, Great-tailed Grackle, House Finch, and Belted Kingfisher. Among the participants were: Dan Bohlmann, Ron Sigler, Lorraine Thompson, and Nancy Woods.
