In a world freshly scrubbed from a statewide rain, Loretta and Chuck Richards, Betty Roberts, Donna Smith, Ian Jefferies, Liz and Stew  Morris, Diana Barnum, Annie Teff, Barbara Meding, Cheryl Laude and Carolyn Modeen  (leader) searched for birds around the palm trail of the  Hassayampa Nature Conservancy Preserve.  The first birds to venture into the chilly morning were the Ruby-crowned Kinglets--they were  everywhere.  By the time we were leaving, birds were feeding and if not seen, were heard.

This is the list of birds observed or heard: Mallard, Green-winged Teal, Red-tailed Hawk, Mourning Dove, Ladder-backed Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, Gila Woodpecker, Costa's Hummingbird, Black Phoebe, Brown Creeper, Common Raven, House Wren, Marsh Wren, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Yellow- rumped Warbler, Song Sparrow, House Finch, Spotted Towhee, Albert's Towhee, Summer Tanager, American Coot, Dark-eyed Juncos (Oregon and Pink-Sided) and a Sora (heard).
