  Hassayampa River Preserve

It was a hot muggy day on July 27th. when we left for Hassayampa River Preserve. When we arrived, it was a little cooler but the humidity was even higher.The birds loved it though and after only two hours of birding we saw 41 species.

The birders making this trip were Pat Dumbacher, Gail Bliss, Marcia Grina, Vera Markham, Dean and Joan Luehrs, and Donna Smith, leader.

The birds seen or heard: Green Heron, Mallard, Turkey Vulture, Zone-tailed Hawk, American Coot, Rock Pigeon, Mourning Dove, Inca Dove, Black-chinned Hummingbird, Anna's Hummingbird, Rufous Hummingbird, Gila Woodpecker, Ladder-backed Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, Western-wood Pewee, Black Phoebe, Vermillion Flycatcher, Ash-throated Flycatcher, Tropical Kingbird, Thick-billed Kingbird, Western Kingbird, Common Raven, Verdin, Phainopepla, Bell's Vireo, Yellow Warbler(H), Common Yellowthroat(H), Yellow-breasted Chat(H), Summer Tanager,  Western Tanager, Northern Cardinal, Blue Grosbeak, Abert's Towhee, Lark Sparrow, Song Sparrow,  House Sparrow, Red-winged Blackbird, Great-tailed Grackle, Brown-headed Cowbird, Hooded Oriole and Lesser Goldfinch.
