Coons Bluff and Granite Reef Dam

The Betty Baugus led a group of 15 Birders’ Anonymous and Sonoran Audubon Society members to Coons Bluff and Granite Reef Dam. The attendees were Judith Burke, Marshall Esty, Russ & Beth Hatfield, Ian Jeffrey, Vera Markham, Carol Maroney, Chuck & Lorretta Richards, Lee & Phyliss Rosander, Donna Smith, George & Maria Wall.

The following species were seen (although not by all): Pied-billed Grebe, Eared Grebe, Double-crested Cormorant, Gadwall, Mallard, Redhead, Ring-necked Duck, Lesser Scaup, Common Merganser, Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, Green Heron, Osprey, Bald Eagle, Harris’s Hawk, American Coot, Greater Yellowlegs, Spotted Sandpiper, Long-billed Dowitcher, Killdeer, Mourning Dove, Anna’s Hummingbird, Costa’s Hummingbird, Gila Woodpecker, Black Phoebe, Vermillion Flycatcher, Phainopepla, Cedar Waxwing, Western Bluebird, Curve-billed Thrasher, European Starling, Verdin, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Northern Rough-winged Swallow, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, House Sparrow, House Finch, Orange-crowned Warbler, yellow-rumped Warbler, Abert’s Towhee, Northern Cardinal and Great-tailed Grackle.

A total of 44 birds were seen in all.
