Sixteen birders from Birders' Anonymous and the Sonoran Audubon Society went on a field trip to Badger Springs, a part of the Agua Fria National Monument. The trip was led by George Wall and the other attendees were Jane Allen, Tillie Chew, Bob Cirillo, Marshall Esty, Joyce Goodman, Ian Jeffrey, Ken & Rosita Larsen, Bob McCall, Lee & Phyllis Rosander, Larry & Audrey Schander, Donna Smith and Cathy Thompson.

It was a beautiful morning and perfect weather for a walk down the Agua Fria Wash to and from the river. We took our time and thoroughly enjoyed the scenery that included blooming cacti, flowers and the greenery of the trees. When we reached the river, several of us enjoyed the numerous Petroglyphs on the rocks. We only saw 29 species of birds, but no one complained.

The birds seen were Turkey Vulture, Gambel's Quail, Mourning Dove, Anna's Hummingbird, Costa's Hummingbird, Ladder-backed Woodpecker, Say's Phoebe, Vermillion Flycatcher, Ash-throated Flycatcher, Phainopepla, Cactus Wren, American Rock Wren, Northern Mockingbird, Curve-billed Thrasher, Verdin, Song Sparrow, Lincoln's Sparrow, Whitecrowned Sparrow, Chipping Sparrow, Black-throated Sparrow, Canyon Towhee, Abert's Towhee, Northern Cardinal, Orange-crowned Warbler, Lucy's Warbler, unidentified warbler (maybe a Nashville Warbler), Bell's Vireo, Lesser Goldfinch and House Finch.
