Twenty birders attended this trip.  They were Pat Dumbacher, Margaret Little, Andrea Nesbitt, Carolyn Modeen, Doris Hill, Betty Roberts, Barbara Bean, Sam Stearman, Gerry Horton, Vera Markham, Darlene Gatto, Clara Mae Ryder, Muriel Smith, Chuck and Loretta Richards, Bob Cirillo, Ian Jeffery, Maria Johnson, Dan Bohlmann, Marilyn McMahon and Donna Smith, leader.

We had a cool, windy, but clear day for our trip.  At the Le Conte's Thrasher site we spotted lots of Sage Sparro's but no thrashers.  On to the lower river ponds where a flock of Snow Geese flew over our heads giving everyone a good view.  Lots of birds of prey were flying over the fields filled with blackbirds.  At the Old School area we flushed a Great Horned Owl and got a nice look at the Vermillion Flycatcher.  Our intention was to go on to the Gillespie Dam where we could have probably seen a few more birds, but with the amount of people on this trip and the time factor, we never made it.

Here are the 49 birs we saw:  Pied-billed Grebe, Double-crested Cormmorant, Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, Black-crowned Night Heron, Snow Goose, Black-Bellied Whistling Duck, Mallard, Ring-necked Duck, Turkey Vulture, Osprey, Northern Harrier, White-tailed Kite, Red-tailed Hawk, Swain Hawk, American Kestrel, Great-horned Owl, Gambel's Quail, American Coot, Killdeer, Black-necked Stilt, Least Sandpiper, Wilson's Snipe, Rock Pigeon, Mourning Dove, Eurasian-collared Dove, Gila Woodpecker, Say's Phoebe, Ash-throated Flycatcher, Vermillion Flycatcher, Loggerheaded Shrike, Verdin, Black-tailed Gnat-catcher, Common Raven, Horned Lark, Northern Mockingbird, American Pipit, European Starling, Sage Sparrow, Lark Sparrow, White-crowned Sparrow, Abert's Towhee, Western Meadowlark, Red-winged Blackbird, Brewer's Blackbird, Yellow-headed Blackbird, Great-tailed Blackbird, House Finch, and House Sparrow.
